Tonelero is an traditional residential street of Copacabana. The building dates back to 1956 and the apartment looks out onto the Pedra da Agulinha (Floresta da Chacrinha), a forest reserve that belongs to the Brazilian Military Police. This is good news by the way. The whole area is protected and no illegal construction is permitted.
Renovating this apartment (and the penthouse) over 24 years helped me to become an architect in Paris where I presently live. Between the living room and the kitchen five walls where put down and as a result the gorgeous view onto the forest is open in most parts of the house.
